The Coltrane-Webb STEM Elementary School Mascots, Zougar and Zoey.
Hello Coltrane-Webb STEM Elementary School Families,

Our 3rd - 5th grade students worked very hard this week taking their 2nd Benchmark Tests and we are so proud of them.  Next week, we wrap up the 2nd quarter as we head into the upcoming break.

Please take a few moments to review the important updates below:

Early Release and Winter Break Information

We will have an early dismissal day on Friday, December 19th.  Our students will dismiss at 12:00pm.  If there will be changes to how your student(s) are picked up from school next Friday, please communicate those directly to their teacher ASAP. Kids Plus will operate in the afternoon from 12pm until 4:30pm.  The Boys and Girls Club will still operate as normal for those students that attend their after school program.

There will be no school for students and staff from Monday, December 22 - Friday, January 2nd for the Winter Break. Students will return to school on our regular schedule on Monday, January 5, 2026.

Lunch Volunteers Needed

The PTCO is providing a Holiday lunch for the staff on Tuesday, December 16th! We are looking for volunteers to assist with student lunches so that our teachers can relax and enjoy their meal.  You can volunteer for a 30 min time slot or stay the entire time.  Any parents volunteering to help with duty free lunch must have an up to date background check on file with Cabarrus County Schools. If you are interested in volunteering, please click this link to sign up.

Spirit Night at Mi Pueblo - December 17th from 5:00pm - 10:00pm

Our next spirit night will be on Wednesday, December 17th at Mi Pueblo from 5:00pm - 10:00pm.  A portion of the proceeds will be donated to CWES.  Please come out and have some great food while support Coltrane-Webb.  We hope to see you there!

Guidelines for Keeping Sick Kids at Home

It is the time of the season where we are seeing an increasing number of students coming down with a cold.  Please see the attached document from Nurse Morgan for guidance on when you need to keep your child home if they are sick.  We thank you for your help with this.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to Nurse Morgan at 704-260-6150.

Positivity Project (P2)

Next week for P2, our students will focus on the Self-Control. This means having the ability to control your emotions and behaviors as you should think before you act. Check out the parent newsletter to learn more.

As we approach the upcoming break, I hope you're able to relax and spend meaningful time with loved ones.  If you'll be on the road or flying, I wish you safe travels.  We deeply appreciate the continued support you show our staff and students throughout the year.  Barring anything urgent, the next weekly update will come out on Friday, January 2, 2026.  Happy Holiday and Happy New Year!

I hope you have a great weekend and we will see you on Monday!
